Double pointed needles! Oh lordy!

28 Jul

So Andy bought me a wonderful book for our First wedding anniversary. Its called Knitting MochiMochi.  It’s full of the cutest knitting creations known to man. Bed bugs, grouchy couches, squirrels on wheels…I love it. The only thing is, to create any of the wonderful designs you need to be able to use Double pointed needles like 4 at a time! Yikes!

So off to eBay I went to purchase some rather lovely bamboo needles and away I go! It’s incredibly difficult to get my head around trying to hold more than two needles. Its like playing a deadly version of pick up sticks! I nearly lost an eye! But my first attempt I have to say is going ok. It is forming some sort of three dimensional shape, so I must be doing something right. YouTube hasn’t been much help this time unfortunately. I have found simply reading and re-reading the directions is the only way. So several cups of tea later I think I have given myself hope that one day I might be able to create a little 3d creature of my own! I will keep you updated with my progress. Hopefully!

It is indeed mental. What I don’t understand is how on earth somebody figured out how to do it all in the first place!

Wow, well done Lucy – this is very impressive! Sure it’ll be great when it’s done 🙂
Hope you don’t mind that I subscribed to your blog a while ago… it’s fascinating, and I love following people doing things that they love. I adore the aprons and the little dogs are so cute! I heard today that there are 21 weeks until Christmas… you’d best get busy as I reckon you’ll have LOADS of orders 🙂
    Hope you’re well, Emily xxx
