~Playing with buttons~

4 May

Today I felt a bit ‘meh’ and didn’t feel like doing much, so I did what I always do when I’m feeling like this…I got my buttons out! There is nothing better than pouring out a jar of beautiful buttons into a bowl and rummaging through, I love the feeling of them. It reminds me of when I was little and used to run my hands through the barrels of bird seed in pet shops!

I didn’t have a plan, I just wanted to do something creative that didn’t involve leaving the sofa! Here is what I came up with.

The button wire-heart I really like. I know you see them everywhere and they aren’t very original, but I love them all the same and wanted to create a nice bright one (we know how much I love my bright colours!) I only had some thin purple wire lying around, so I need to invest in some slightly sturdier stuff so that it keeps it’s lovely heart shape better.

I have also been wanting to do a bit more embroidery for a while. I did make my mum a ‘Home Sweet Home’ sign for Mothers Day(Picture on my Twitter account!)but have done nothing since then. So I thought since I was having a button loving day I would create something in honour of my love for buttons! Here it is!

What do you think?

Winter hibernation

8 Feb

Hello lovely people! As you may have noticed I have not been around much lately. I am now out of my winter hibernation (just about!) and thought I would let you all know that I am still alive and ready to fill you in in what I have been doing!

One of the main reasons I have been quiet is down to the fact we were puppy hunting and we now have the most adorable golden retriever puppy in the world, Monty! As you can imagine life has become slightly more hectic what with us chasing him around, stopping him eating everything (including Juno the house rabbit!) and cleaning up ridiculous amounts of poo!

After a rather successful Christmas period of crafting and selling I decided to have a little break. I’m not sure whether it was the weather or just a simple lack of motivation but I felt I need some time to myself. I did managed to teach myself some embroidery and sell a few extra items despite my need to snooze!

However, business soon has a habit of catching up with you. I have a Craft Fair at the end of this month which I am verymuch looking forward to. I also have a couple of commissions which I’m now eager to get on with; as much as puppy allows!

So all I can say is I hope you are all well and keep your eyes peeled for more craft creations from Humbugbuttonbeetle!
