Happy Easter!

29 Mar

So last night I finished my Easter Wreath just in time for the bank holiday weekend! I have been working on/ procrastinating on it it for a few weeks. I have been wanting to make one ever since seeing the wonderful Lucy’s many wreaths on Attic 24. Hers is of course a work of pure brilliance, and mine fails miserably in comparison, but still I am rather pleased with the outcome and it cheers up the dreary corridor no end! It isn’t as busy with flowers and pompoms as I would like, but surprise surprise! I ran out of time! But it is something I can continue to add to every year until it is perfect, and seeing as it took me so bloomin’ long to complete it is staying up throughout the entire summer period!

Please try to ignore the beautiful artex walls!

Crochet Ripple Blanket

15 Mar

One of my friends at work is having her first baby and I knew instantly I wanted to make her a crochet blanket. As much as I LOVE granny squares I have been looking for a new challenge to get my teeth into and the ripple stitch seemed like the perfect fit. The amazingly talented Lucy from Attic 24 has a wonderful step by step tutorial to follow so I got cracking with a test piece. Pleased with the results, it was time to move onto the real thing! eep! I chose nice and cheap, but equally lovely StyleCraft DK wool in gorgeous ice cream colours.

Here’s a picture of the work in progress back in Devon when we stayed with Andy’s Parents. It was the perfect way to spend an evening; curled up under a blanket with the open fire after a long walk with Monty.

Now here’s the finished blanket  What do you think?! I’m really pleased with it. The colours work so well together and the ripple stitch is just so lovely and subtle.

I love the rippled edging too 🙂

Next time I do one of these I’m going to try and make my stitches a little tighter, but apart from that for my firs ever attempt I am chuffed to bits! I just hope mum and baby to be love it as much as I do 🙂

Happy Holidays

6 Jul

So I’m sat here with leggings, a cosy jumper and bed socks drinking tea and watching yet more rain pour down outside, and you know what? I don’t care because tomorrow I’m off to sunny Malta for 10 lovely long days! Bring it on! It’s been a tough few months with job changes and trying to figure out what the hell I’m doing with my life (I still don’t know by the way!) so this feels like a well earned break. Cannot wait to spend some quality time with my lovely husband. I’m gonna miss my giant puppy and June-bug bunny something rotten though!

Alas I have my suncream packed, my copy of  Mollie Makes to read on the beach(which shows you how to make friendship bracelets! I’d completely forgotton how do do this so am very excited to have a go!)

I have also packed some DK wool with mohair and crochet hooks to keep me occupied when I’m not too busy drinking these:

Lets see how much i get done?!

Anywho, I best carry on packing and trying to make it look much less than it actually is! Happy holidays people, hope you have a good couple of weeks xxx
