Thanks Betty

28 Nov

Last week I was given a wonderful gift.  My husband’s work mate, Lisa,  is a lovely lady who has been looking after her elderly next door neighbour Betty for years. Sadly Bet had been declining for a while and has now had to move to a nursing home where she can have the ongoing care she needs. It has been left up to her and her husband to clear and sort out her house as she has no family to do it for her. Not an easy task as she has been in the house for over 60 years and her parents before that! So there is 60 years plus worth of treasures (and boxes of soap!?) to sort through.

Whilst organising and de-cluttering Lisa came across some goodies she thought I might like and saved them for me.  The magical stash consisted of hundreds of vintage buttons that had been saved over the years kept in beautiful rustic tins, lots of pins and needles, thimbles and scissors and lots and lots of vintage threads and cottons. What a wonderful find! They are all beautiful and I am sure I will put them to good use.

Just some of the goodies

Close up of the tins. I love the glimpse into history 🙂

Not only was I lucky enough to receive this collection, Lisa also gave me the gorgeous vintage sewing storage table that she found all this in. It is just so beautifully retro!

So thank you Lisa and most of all thank you Bet. I will make sure I put them all to good use and carry on crafting!
